London gets a centre to train the 2012 champions

Stunt cyclists were at the opening yesterday in East London of a cycling centre that has been developed to produce champions for the 2012 Olympics.

Vic Hopkin, director of British Cycling, said that Redbridge Cycling Centre, which offers a two-kilometre circuit and an off-road trail, was vital for training potential Olympians.

“There has been a lack of facilities for years, which is like swimming without the diving boards,” Mr Hopkin said. The centre is for community and competition use.
